The Ranch at Dove Tree’s Intensive Outpatient Program

The Ranch at Dove Tree offers an intensive outpatient program as part of our complete continuum of care for those with substance use issues. An intensive outpatient program for substance abuse (also referred to as an IOP) is essential for those who have completed residential treatment. IOP offers less structure than a residential alcohol and drug abuse program but with continued professional counseling and support. The Ranch at Dove Tree’s transitional living homes for men and women integrate IOP as part of the recovery process.

World-class care with a friendly, Texas approach—this makes The Ranch at Dove Tree’s intensive outpatient program unlike any other!

Intensive Outpatient Program for Substance Abuse at The Ranch at Dove Tree

The Ranch at Dove Tree’s intensive outpatient program curriculum is designed to meet the needs of clients who are being admitted directly from residential or partial residential care. In some cases, depending on a person’s substance use history and family support status, IOP may be an initial level of care.

On admission to our IOP, each client is provided with a weekly therapist and client liaison to guide them through the program. You will check in with the liaison at the beginning of the program and meet again a few times prior to discharge, in order to make sure the best aftercare plan is in place.

Participants in our intensive outpatient program for substance abuse are involved in a minimum of 15 hours of recovery programs initially. Evening groups are available so that clients are able to meet home, work, and school commitments. Individual therapy is also part of IOP and integrates care for co-occurring disorders (such as depression, anxiety, or trauma) as part of the treatment process. Random drug testing is also part of the IOP process.

Clients in IOP initially attend group therapy every night for the first two to three weeks. On the nights they are not in group, integration into community recovery meetings takes place. IOP is transitional in nature and includes two specific step-down phases.

In addition to group sessions, each client meets with a counselor each week to individualize their treatment experience. The Ranch at Dove Tree’s IOP is dedicated to providing optimal care for each client’s unique needs, and we are proud of our ability to do this!

An additional recovery resiliency component in our intensive outpatient program includes a rotating six-week Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) curriculum. Group participants focus on the following five specific areas:

  1. Skills Training
  2. Mindfulness
  3. Interpersonal Effectiveness
  4. Emotional Regulation (2 groups)
  5. Distress Tolerance
