When Is Outpatient Treatment for Addiction Enough?

Ranch at Dove Tree - When Is Outpatient Treatment for Addiction Enough

Addiction treatment comes in various forms. Many people benefit from medical detox and inpatient rehabilitation as a first step. That can seem daunting, especially when you’re unsure you need that level and type of care.

Outpatient treatment for addiction can be helpful to many people, especially if you have a safe place to live and are willing to dedicate yourself to the process. Whether it is the right decision for you depends on a comprehensive assessment provided by your medical providers and therapists.

At The Ranch at Dove Tree, we provide our clients with an assessment that gauges the type and level of care right for you. Many people start with intensive outpatient treatment.

Who Benefits from Outpatient Treatment for Addiction?

You may benefit from outpatient treatment if:

  • You have a stable place to live where people will encourage you to move forward with your recovery.
  • You have a mild to moderate level of addiction.
  • You have a strong support system to turn to when you need help.
  • Factors such as family obligations, school, or work limit your ability to step away for full-time, residential treatment.
  • The motivation to remain self-accountable is strong.

In these situations, you may have the initial requirements for getting help through an intensive outpatient program. But you’ll still need the one-on-one help of our team to make sure it’s the beneficial route you deserve.

What Can Outpatient Addiction Treatment Do for You?

Outpatient addiction treatment at The Ranch at Dove Tree isn’t a single program. We offer various types of programs with numerous potential strategies to help you recover on your own path. However, our care plans are structured to include the resources and tools most people need.

Initial Phases

During those initial phases of care, we know just how important structure and reliable support are. That is why these initial days provide you with 24-hour support. You gain the help when you need it to stay the course.

You’ll still be able to work or meet your obligations at home, most of the time. But you have to commit to therapy and treatment with your team as well. We’ll work with you to structure a program that aligns with your objectives but also meets your specific family obligations, as much as possible.

Ongoing Care Programs

Establishing a schedule that aligns with your needs can seem like a monumental process at first. But you’ll learn a great deal about our program during your initial consultation with our team. Our goal is always to work with you based on your needs.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Our intensive outpatient program requires you to attend at least 15 hours of substance use and support therapy and activities every week. You will also have access to group and individual therapy as a component of that. You will also need to actively attend Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, or other community-based sober support groups. There is also an obligation to complete routine drug testing.

This type and level of care allows our team to provide you with the best level and access of services to meet your needs. Expect this program to provide you with the tools you need to recover and remain drug-free.

Outpatient and Transitional Living Programs

Many people will transition into an outpatient program with fewer hours and a reduced time commitment over time. For some, there is a need to move into transitional living programs, which are accessible to many who are in our residential treatment program for addiction in Lubbock. In all cases, we do not just leave you. You’ll get the level of care you need on an ongoing basis.

Is Long-Term Adult Inpatient Rehab Better?

The reality is, many people benefit from long-term adult inpatient rehab instead of outpatient care. Inpatient care starts with detoxification and individual therapy. You gain one-on-one support for mental health concerns and working through your obstacles on a personal level. You then gain access to group therapy, relapse prevention planning, and the tools necessary to help you heal your body and mind.

Inpatient treatment is beneficial for some people. Not everyone needs it. You can expect our addiction treatment program to encourage you to embrace the level of care best suited for your individual needs. We don’t pressure you into any single path.

In the United States, 1 in 6 people over the age of 12 struggle with a form of addiction. The reality is, most people can receive effective treatment. You simply have to seek out care. That is where we can help you.
